Girls Registration FAQ
Q: How do I register?
All registration is managed on the new IYL website. The new on-line registration program is secure and all on-line payments are deposited directly into the Issaquah Youth Lacrosse merchant account. This new registration system was put into place after the default of youth sports vendor Count Me In and utilizes software and secure bank processing services approved by US Lacrosse, the national governing body of Lacrosse. When regular season registration starts the forms will be available on the IYL site.
Important!: Do not wait to register once registration opens; we anticipate that IYL will be at capacity by early December.
Registration Steps:
1. Check your eligibility. Do you live in the Issaquah or Snoqualmie School Districts? If not, check "Who Plays" in the Girls Overview to see if you are eligible.
2. Renew or join US Lacrosse. All new and returning Lightning, Junior and Senior Division IYL players must have a current membership in US Lacrosse to complete registration and be placed on a team. All memberships must be valid through August 31st, 2010. USL membership helps IYL control insurance costs and provides some important coverage for our organization. USL is also a great information resource to parents and players - be sure to visit the USL Benefits Page.
Important!: You must complete this step before proceeding through on-line registration! Have your membership number and expiration date at hand - registration cannot be completed without it.
You can check your membership status by going to the USL Membership Information Page. You can renew or join USL by going to the USL New Membership Page. If you are renewing, make sure you renew it through (at least) August 31st, 2010.
Please be sure to check that you are registering under Issaquah Youth Lacrosse and not under one of the other local programs. USL membership and expiration dates are verified with USL for all player rosters after registration closes so it is important that your membership is associated with IYL.
3. Register On-line. The registration link will be active on the IYL Site and IYL Blog once registration opens.
4. Get equipment. Girls Junior and Senior Division players provide their own gear; Lightning Division may be able to get loaner sticks from the coach, but all are required to supply their own goggles and mouth guards. You can review and print out the Girls Equipment List.
5. Bookmark the IYL Website and IYL Blog. Check in often for updated information as well as watch for League eMail. The IYL Website is our primary means of communication with our members. You can also follow the IYL Blog for a wealth of current League and Lacrosse happenings. Inclined to Twitter - follow IYL on Twitter for all the IYL info literally as it happens.
6. Attend the Girls Lacrosse Clinic. This is typically held in mid-October and sponsored by our ISD girls high school program – this is a great way to try out the sport and have some fun in the pre-season. More details will be posted on the IYL websites.
Q: What is the cost?
Registration fees for the 2010 season are $295 for Senior Division players, $270 for Junior Division players, and $120 for Lightning Division players. Fees are budgeted to cover organization/team expenses with no additional fund-raising required to meet the programs operational expenses. Fully paid registration is required before a player will be placed on a team. IYL needs-based scholarships are available for qualified families - please contact IYL Co-President Matthew Balkman for more information.
Q: What is the refund policy?
Registration fees for the Regular Season (Spring) are refundable less a $30 administration fee if IYL is notified by eMail or letter prior to January 1st. One half (50%) of the registration fee is refundable for requests made by eMail or letter after January 1st and before March 1st of the current regular season. No refunds will be issues for requests made on or after March 1st of the current season. IYL's refund policy is based upon our obligations for field reservations, equipment purchases and administrative costs such as insurance which are in turn based upon registration numbers.
If a player is removed from an IYL program due to falsified information given during the registration process which affects the player's eligibility, an additional $100 administrative charge will be deducted after the refund is calculated as outlined in this section.
Q: Do returning players have priority?
Anyone who played on an IYL team during the prior regular season will have priority registration status until December 1st and will be placed on the new season's teams first. If returning players miss the December 1st priority placement deadline they will be registered on a first-in/first-on basis. IYL does not reserve slots for returning players past the December 1st date; if you register late and we do not have space for you a full refund will be issued.
Q: Is everyone who registers assigned to a team?
We strive to accommodate every player who registers but IYL is experiencing explosive growth and we are limited by the number of coaches and fields. Player applications that are waitlisted are not guaranteed a roster spot. Wait-listed players are subject to a first-in/first-on policy. The best way to guarantee a spot is to register early!
Q: How many players are on each team?
There are approximately 18-22 players per team in the Girls Junior and Senior Divisions; and approximately 18-22 for the Girls Lightning Division.
